Rainmaking is a campaign aiming to make it rain.
Write down your wishes, and together we march.
Collaboratively we testify to the question of ‘what if’.

We play the Cat’s Cradle with our bodies because when we were kids kids we believed the game would bring about rain.

One raindrop, two raindrops.
Do you believe it? Would you join?

The Designers
We are a group of Chinese performance artists, the creative effort behind Rainmaking since 2019. In 2022, we adapted this project for a tour in the UK.

Rainmaking, inspired by a global increase in the past five years of people taking it to the streets, is an outdoors participatory live art project exploring ‘campaign’ as a public political act by means of playfulness.

We believe in a curious dynamic between the abstraction of wanting it to rain as a goal and the tangible experience of participating in a
campaign. Rainmaking is designed in this way to generate an in-between and playful arena where people are free to role-play, question and reflect on their actions during and after an act of public activism.
